How to configure Dashboard web part

You can set what cards will appear on your homepage, below we explain how to do that:

Step 1: Create and Configure the Dashboard Cards

Before adding the web part, build the dashboard cards via site settings.

  1. Go to your SharePoint site homepage and click the Gear icon (Settings) at the top right.

  2. Select Manage dashboard.

  3. Click + Add a card to select from available cards (e.g., Quick Links, Assigned Tasks, Teams App, or Web Link).

  4. Click the Edit pencil icon on the left side of any card to configure its properties:

    • Card Size: Choose Medium (1 column) or Large (2 columns).

    • Target Audience: Apply audience targeting to restrict visibility to specific Azure AD groups/roles.

    • Action/Destination: Define what happens when a user clicks the card (e.g., opening a link, opening a panel, or launching a Teams app).

  5. Click Preview to verify how the dashboard appears across desktop and mobile views.

  6. Click Publish (or Republish) to save your changes.

Step 2: Add and Configure the Dashboard Web Part on a Page

Once the dashboard content is configured, display it on any SharePoint page.

1.Put the page in Edit mode:

Navigate to the page where you want the dashboard, then click Edit page.

2.Insert the Dashboard web part:

Hover over or below an existing section until the + (circled plus) icon appears. Search for Dashboard and select Dashboard for Viva Connections.

3.Configure web part properties:

Select the newly added web part and click the Edit web part (pencil icon) on the left side menu. In the configuration pane:

  • Card count/Limit: Choose how many cards to show before displaying a “See all” link.
  • Filter/Audience Settings: Toggle whether audience targeting should be applied to the current viewer.

4.Publish the page:

Review the visual layout, then click Republish at the top right to make the dashboard live.
